Pistachio pudding cake (using a cake mix and instant pudding mix)

mom's version came from the back of the pudding mix box (which she still has!)
Ingredients:
1 package yellow cake mix
1 3-ounce package instant pistachio pudding mix
1 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
Directions:
* Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.
* In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and pudding mix. Pour in the water, oil and eggs and almond flavor. mix well. Pour one third of the batter into the prepared pan.
* Mix the chocolate syrup into half of the remaining batter. Pour the chocolate batter over the top of the batter in the pan. Top with the remaining plain batter. Swirl slightly through the layers. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
